The Tone:
This is a cooperative education program position at Dominion Energy South Carolina (DESC), located in Cayce, SC. Dominion Energy is dedicated to providing reliable, affordable, and increasingly clean energy. This role is designed to attract, develop, and retain high-potential college students, offering them valuable knowledge in power generation operations. Successful participants will be prepared to compete for entry-level professional positions in the utility industry upon graduation.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Cayce, SC

• Mission: Provide students with valuable knowledge in fossil and hydroelectric generation operations and environmental excellence, preparing them for entry-level professional positions in the utility industry.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office products

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Management: Oversee planning and project management for maintenance activities and additions/modifications to generation facilities.
• Project Preparation: Prepare project scoping documents, competitive bidding processes, and project justifications.
• Reporting & Analysis: Review and support project schedules, budgets, and cost estimates, providing regular status reports.
• Operations Support: Support plant operations by performing a variety of equipment and systems testing.
• Engineering Studies: Assist with engineering studies and analysis, alongside additional equipment and system testing.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a student pursuing an ABET-Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Environmental Engineering.
• Experience: Must be enrolled and planning to graduate in the fall of 2028 or later, with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Office products is required.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong computer knowledge, a valid driver’s license with a safe driving history, and reliable transportation within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned work location.
