Hillstone Restaurant Group: Summer Internship Program

Hillstone’s summer internship is specifically designed for rising seniors who possess a serious interest in pursuing a career in either restaurant management or culinary management.

Program Overview and Learning Opportunities

Interns will gain comprehensive exposure to the restaurant business in its entirety. While a significant focus is placed on daily operations and service, participants will also have the opportunity to understand management-level functions.

• Daily Operations & Service: Develop a deep understanding of the day-to-day workings of an upscale restaurant, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities.
• Staff-Level Apprenticeship: Spend the majority of time apprenticing various staff-level roles, gaining hands-on experience and mastering essential skills.
• Management-Level Functions: Opportunity to observe and understand critical management responsibilities, which may include:
  • Hiring and Onboarding
  • Staff Training and Development
  • Coaching and Performance Management
  • Inventory Management
  • P&L Oversight (Profit & Loss)
• Previous Restaurant Experience: While helpful, prior experience working in restaurants is not a prerequisite for this internship.

Placement, Location & Compensation

• Intern Placement: Placement will be determined upon hire based on fit with an operating team. Interns will be assigned to one of Hillstone’s restaurants around the country.
• Key Locations: There will be a strong focus on placements in East Hampton, NY and Aspen, CO, though assignments are not limited to these cities. With 45+ properties across the United States, relocation may be contingent upon employment.
• Compensation: Compensation will vary based on the assigned location but will average at least $1000 per week.

Qualifications

• Must be a rising senior with a serious interest in restaurant or culinary management.
• Placement for the internship is decided upon hire, based on the best fit for an operating team.
• Relocation may be required as placements occur across our 45+ properties nationwide, not solely in Aspen, CO or East Hampton, NY.
