The Tone:
This is an internship at NY Race Track Chaplaincy, located in Saratoga Springs, NY. The New York Race Track Chaplaincy supports the community of workers and their families in the Thoroughbred racing industry. The organization provides children’s enrichment, teen mentoring, women’s programming, social service, recreational, and educational programs, alongside non-denominational religious services. This role is crucial for coordinating and supervising their extensive summer children’s program, satisfying basic needs, and fostering personal growth and independence within the community.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Coordination: Coordinate the 8-week, 5-day-per-week children’s summer recreational and enrichment program in Saratoga Springs, NY.
• Program Oversight: Oversee all daily activities and operations of the children’s summer recreational and enrichment program.
• Child Supervision: Supervise a large group of children aged 5–13, ensuring engagement and a positive experience.
• Family Communication: Communicate effectively with parents and family members regarding program details and child interactions.
• Emergency Response: Calmly handle emergency situations that may arise during program hours.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student level applicant, possessing a mature and respectful leader mindset, a calm demeanor, and a heart for service, with comfort in communicating with parents and family members.
• Experience: Prior summer camp leadership experience is a significant plus, along with the ability to work with large groups of children of varying ages, personalities, and abilities.
• Skills: Strong leadership skills, excellent planning and organizational abilities, and the imperative ability to manage a group of children ages 5–13.
• Bonus: Bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish is helpful.
