Job Title: Summer Intern – Mechanical Engineering (Gas Team)

Milhouse Engineering and Construction is excited to engage a summer intern in Mechanical Engineering to join our dynamic Gas Team. This opportunity provides valuable learning and development exposure, supporting current Gas projects with a variety of assignments.

Internship Program Dates:

• Start Date: Early June 2026
• End Date: Mid-August 2026

Location:

Chicago-land area. Candidates preferably reside in the Chicago-land area or are able to cover their own housing requirements. The work environment will entail working in our office or project team environment, following Milhouse guidelines for safe practices throughout the internship.

What You Will Do:

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern on the Gas Team, you will gain hands-on experience by:

• Performing engineering design in adherence to client and regulatory requirements.
• Preparing project documents, plans, and reports utilizing CADD software.
• Performing data entry into various platforms to support project needs.
• Organizing and maintaining project files to ensure efficient project management.
• Performing calculations and analysis to support engineering designs.
• Preparing detailed design calculations using appropriate tools and/or software.
• Preparing cost estimates and analyzing material costs for projects.

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking enthusiastic and driven candidates who meet the following criteria:

• Education:
  • Currently a senior or incoming senior level student who is graduating with a Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Completion of two years or more of engineering classwork at an ABET accredited institution.
  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to execute efficiently within a time-sensitive deliverable schedule.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to plan and organize daily tasks effectively.

Compensation:

Pay Rate: $20 – $25 an hour

The actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. While we provide a range, we’d love to hear from you if you are in or outside of this range as we are always looking to cater roles to the Talent we find!
