Summer Intern, Investment Sales | Walker & Dunlop
The Tone:
This is a summer internship at Walker & Dunlop, a leading capital provider to the commercial real estate industry. The company enables real estate owners and operators to develop communities where people live, work, shop, and play, with a commitment to positive social, environmental, and economic change. This role is crucial in supporting the Walker & Dunlop Investment Sales (WDIS) team, which advises premier multifamily owners and developers. The internship offers a structured 10-week program designed to immerse students in the commercial real estate finance industry, providing hands-on experience and opportunities to contribute meaningfully to the business.

• Mission: Support the Walker & Dunlop Investment Sales (WDIS) team in facilitating multifamily real estate transactions and providing market analysis and advisory services.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Analyze: Conduct financial analysis of diverse multifamily opportunities, including existing properties, value-add projects, and ground-up developments, utilizing the proprietary WDIS underwriting model.
• Develop Marketing Materials: Actively assist in the thorough research, precise writing, and meticulous proofing of Walker & Dunlop Investment Sales marketing offering memorandums (OMs) and Broker Opinion of Values (BOVs).
• Data Management: Research and diligently maintain comprehensive databases that track crucial Investment Sales activity, monitor the construction pipeline, and record other relevant real estate metrics.
• Market Knowledge: Develop and maintain current market knowledge through regular reading of industry trade journals, economic forecasts, and news-related periodicals.
• Market Insights: Support the creation and meticulous editing of “state of the market” presentations, which are delivered at national conferences and during private client meetings.
• Deal Flow Support: Provide a consistent and quality-controlled system to ensure the smooth and efficient management of all necessary steps required to successfully close real estate transactions.
• Compliance & Monitoring: Maintain files to ensure all mandatory disclosures are completed, sent for review, and monitor sales progress to ensure important deadlines are met and contingencies are released.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be enrolled full-time and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an undergraduate program at an accredited university; must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience: Relevant work experience is a plus.
• Skills: Strong communication skills; strong attention to detail, coupled with developed organizational and time management skills; demonstrated analytical skills; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
