Benefit Intern | Bowery Residents’​ Committee

The Tone:
This is a Summer Internship at Bowery Residents’​ Committee, located in New York, NY. BRC is a 638-person organization looking for support within its Human Resources Benefits division. This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience and learn about Human Resources with a dedicated focus on employee benefits. It is an essential position for assisting with key administrative and developmental tasks that support the entire organization.

The TL;DR

• Team: Human Resources Benefits division
• Mission: To provide administrative and project support to the HR Benefits division, ensuring smooth operations and contributing to policy development.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft office suite (excel, word, power point)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Orientation Support: Support the new hire orientation process.
• Compliance Audit: Conduct the I9 Audit to ensure compliance.
• Document Management: Scan documents and automate existing files for efficiency.
• Credential Issuance: Support with preparing and issuing ID badges for staff.
• Policy Development: Collaborate with benefit staff to develop new benefit policies and procedures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Student interested in working in Human Resources, specifically supporting the Benefits division.
• Experience: Ability to work independently as a self-starter and contribute effectively as a member of the benefits team.
• Skills: Excellent communication skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
