Staff Accountant | Asahi Beer USA Inc

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Asahi Beer USA / Octopi Brewing, located in Madison, WI. The company, through Octopi Brewing, brews and packages a variety of beverages including beer, seltzers, RTDs, and sodas for clients nationwide. The Finance team is crucial for maintaining the operational sharpness of both Octopi and Asahi’s business side. This Staff Accountant role is key to ensuring that the company’s financial records are accurate, prepared for audits, and delivered on time.

• Mission: Keep financial information accurate and reliable, supporting accounting and financial reporting functions as the company grows.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries, and maintain and investigate general ledger account activity.
• Financial Close: Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Transaction Processing: Process and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and company bank deposits.
• Reporting & Compliance: Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports, and maintain audit-ready accounting records.
• Expense Management: Track purchase orders and reconcile company credit card accounts.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A 2-year accounting or business degree with 1–2 years of related experience, or a 4-year accounting degree; working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience; proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
• Skills: Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Bonus: Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, and experience supporting fixed asset accounting.
