Staff Accountant | Velox Clearing

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Velox Clearing. Velox Clearing is a financial services and securities firm specializing as a registered broker-dealer and clearing firm. This Staff Accountant position is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to build a strong foundation in accounting while gaining hands-on experience in the financial services and securities industry. The role is critical in supporting the firm’s daily accounting and financial operations and ensuring complete, accurate, and timely financial records.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Reconciliations: Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving outstanding items.
• Cash Management: Monitor and reconcile daily cash activity and cash flows, processing client deposits and withdrawals in coordination with operations.
• Financial Reporting Support: Compile and process information for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Audit Assistance: Assist with the preparation of financial information and schedules for internal and external audits, responding to inquiries.
• Regulatory Learning: Learn and apply the accounting and regulatory requirements applicable to a registered broker-dealer and clearing firm.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited four-year institution, with a strong understanding of basic GAAP accounting principles and internal controls.
• Experience: Proficiency in Excel and comfort working with accounting/financial systems, including account analyses and reconciliations for various general ledger accounts.
• Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail, highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Previous accounting, finance, or internship experience; experience with financial services, banking, securities, or a broker-dealer; familiarity with SEC or FINRA rules and regulations; or an interest in pursuing the FINRA Series 99 registration.
