Staff Accountant | Collegis Education
The Tone:
This is a full-time hybrid role at Collegis Education, located in Oak Brook, IL, with an expectation of working onsite 2–3 days per week. Collegis Education partners with higher education institutions to deliver technology, marketing, and enrollment solutions that support the full student lifecycle. This Staff Accountant role is vital to maintaining the company’s financial health, ensuring accounting processes, billing activities, reconciliations, and reporting are completed accurately and on time. The position supports accounting operations by helping prepare accurate financial statements, maintaining internal controls, and contributing to reliable financial reporting.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Customer Billing: Oversee the end-to-end monthly billing process by gathering usage data, creating documents, obtaining approvals, and distributing invoices to customers.
• Support Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries and complete account reconciliations for operating expenses and related balance sheet accounts.
• Process Financial Transactions: Handle monthly bank reconciliations, post cash receipts, apply customer payments to accounts receivable, and assist with accounts payable tasks.
• Ensure Tax Compliance: Create monthly Sales & Use tax reports for filing and prepare related journal entries.
• Improve Accounting Operations: Support ongoing system and process improvement projects and collaborate to define standard accounting procedures and internal controls.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• Experience: 0–3 years of accounting experience, including recent graduates; experience using a professional accounting system.
• Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, pivot tables), strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience with FinancialForce GL is a plus; interest in working within a continually evolving environment.
