Accounting Generalist | Tucson Federal Credit Union

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Tucson Federal Credit Union, located in Tucson, AZ. As a non-exempt Accounting Generalist, you will be an integral part of the Accounting Department, providing essential support to various financial functions. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the credit union’s financial records, directly contributing to the smooth operation of banking services for its members. Your work will ensure that financial processes, from general ledger reconciliation to accounts payable, are handled efficiently and in compliance with regulations.

• Mission: Support all Accounting Department functions, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, branch balancing, and purchasing.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Credit Union accounting and data processing systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Account Reconciliation: Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and actively resolve any identified account reconciliation issues.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and input necessary journal entries and assist with the preparation of period-end financial reporting documentation.
• Process Improvement: Conduct analysis and complete assignments related to your duties, focusing on identifying and implementing process improvements.
• Regulatory Compliance: Abide by state and federal banking regulations, complete annual compliance training, and maintain member and TFCU privacy and confidentiality.
• Operational Documentation: Prepare and update standard operating procedure documentation specifically related to your assigned job duties.

The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma or its equivalent required; solid understanding of accounting policies and procedures.
• Experience: Ability to gain and retain knowledge of the Credit Union’s accounting and data processing systems, particularly concerning member accounts and transactions.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations and apply accounting principles to solve complex problems; aptitude for detecting and tracing account errors to make necessary corrections.
• Bonus: An Associate degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Business; basic accounting courses combined with one year of experience in credit union/banking or accounting-related functions.
