This is a full-time role at The Inn at Mattei’s Tavern, Auberge Collection, located in charming Los Olivos, CA. Opened in February 2023, the Inn provides 67 luxury guest rooms, cottages, and suites, blending modern farmhouse design with local ranch life aesthetics. The property operates as a celebrated destination, offering farm-driven menus, a luxury spa, and unique guest experiences. The Staff Accountant will join the finance team to manage crucial financial operations for this distinct hospitality environment. This position is vital for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring strict compliance with accounting principles and hotel policies, directly contributing to the Inn’s financial health and operational integrity.

What You’ll Actually Do
• General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards by recording necessary journal entries.
• Financial Analysis and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for management review, provide insights into financial performance, and contribute to the budgeting, forecasting, and budget variance analyses.
• Accounts Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable on a regular basis, investigating and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Expense Management: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies, and work collaboratively with departments to monitor and control expenses.
• Audit Support: Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and provide necessary documentation for internal and external audits, supporting the audit process by responding to auditor inquiries and ensuring compliance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required. This role is suited for an early-career professional building foundational knowledge in financial accounting and reporting.
• Experience: Prior experience in an accounting role is essential, with a distinct preference for candidates who have worked within the hotel industry.
• Skills: Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities are necessary. The role demands a detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational and time management abilities, alongside effective communication and interpersonal skills for internal collaboration.
• Bonus: Proficiency in various accounting software is beneficial, with specific experience using Great Plains considered a significant advantage.
