Accounting Intern (Spring 2027) | Zipline
The Tone:
This is a full-time internship at Zipline, located in South San Francisco, CA. Zipline designs, builds, and operates the world’s largest autonomous logistics system, delivering critical supplies quickly and reliably across four continents. This Accounting Intern role is critical to supporting Zipline’s global operations, ensuring financial processes run smoothly and efficiently. The intern will gain hands-on experience in core corporate accounting within a global, high-growth tech company that is redefining access to healthcare, consumer products, and food across the globe.

• Mission: This role is focused on supporting the Finance & Accounting team by managing critical accounting tasks, assisting with financial operations, and ensuring financial systems and records remain accurate and audit-ready for Zipline’s extensive global operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Record Keeping: Assist in core accounting processes including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate records.
• Financial Reporting: Support the monthly and quarterly financial close by compiling data, running reports, and preparing schedules.
• System Management: Learn Zipline’s finance systems and support data entry, analysis, and cleanup projects.
• Asset Tracking: Partner with country operations and manufacturing teams to support fixed asset accounting activities, including asset tracking, capitalization, and reconciliation.
• Process Collaboration: Collaborate with the broader Finance, Procurement, and Operations teams to track transactions and streamline accounting processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Candidates must have completed the second year of their undergraduate studies in Accounting. Individuals pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in Accounting or a related field are also eligible to apply for this internship.
• Experience: Applicants should be comfortable working with numbers and possess a strong eagerness to apply academic knowledge to real-world corporate accounting tasks.
• Skills: Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. Familiarity with spreadsheet software such as Excel or Google Sheets is required. The ideal candidate asks insightful questions, enjoys problem-solving, and is reliable, resourceful, and highly motivated to learn through practical application.
• Bonus: Experience using advanced features like formulas or pivot tables within Excel or Google Sheets is a plus. A genuine passion for Zipline’s mission and a curiosity about the unique challenges of accounting within a global tech startup environment are highly valued.
