Staff Accountant | R.T. Moore

The Tone:

This Staff Accountant position is crucial for making positive contributions and observations that help improve financial results. This role allows for cross-functional collaboration, partnering with other key departments, and provides an exciting opportunity to quickly learn all functions of the accounting department within a growing company.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Month-End Close: Assist with the monthly close process to ensure accurate and timely financial results.
• Reconciliations & Entries: Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, create monthly journal entries, and resolve balance sheet account variances.
• Job Costing: Take responsibility for job cost accounting for various single-family housing developments and multi-family projects.
• Fixed Asset Management: Manage the fixed asset schedule and post depreciation journal entries each month.
• Process Improvement: Collaborate with project managers and the operations team to drive process improvement and cost savings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Bachelor’s in Accounting preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience with general ledger, month-end close, and reconciliations is a plus, but not required. Exposure to the construction industry, including job cost and construction WIP accounting, is also a plus.
• Skills: Clear, effective communication skills (both written and verbal); Intermediate mathematical abilities with mastery of Excel formulas; Aptitude for prioritizing and coordinating a variety of tasks; Independent and proactive problem-solving and critical thinking; Disposition for accuracy, attention to detail, and organization.
• Bonus: Desire to obtain CPA license preferred; Mastery of the entire Microsoft Suite preferred; Knowledge of Microsoft Great Dynamics (GP) preferred.
