The Tone:
This is an internship at LEX18, located in Lexington, Kentucky. LEX18 is the E.W. Scripps Company’s NBC affiliate, part of a diversified media company focused on creating connection through quality, objective local journalism across more than 60 stations. This role is vital for engaging one of the most dedicated fan bases in college athletics, focusing on Big Blue Nation coverage. The internship provides a foundational experience in sports journalism, contributing directly to local sports content and the development of aspiring broadcasters.

What You’ll Actually Do

• Collaborate: Work alongside the experienced sports team to shoot, write, and edit engaging content.
• Cover: Report on local teams and athletes, being at the heart of the action in Lexington.
• Learn: Gain direct exposure to the broadcast sports journalism industry and develop relevant skills.
• Execute: Perform assigned duties as they relate to the internship’s objectives.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career, actively seeking to learn about the broadcast sports journalism industry; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: Not applicable, as this is an internship intended to provide initial hands-on experience for a limited duration.
• Skills: Strong desire to learn more about the industry; Ability to work effectively with a team; Capability to follow directions.
