Solutions Architect Intern | Solidigm

The Tone:
This is a high-profile internship at Solidigm, located in Rancho Cordova, California, with a hybrid work schedule. Solidigm is a 1,918-person organization specializing in advanced data center SSD technology portfolios, including industry-leading Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products. This role is crucial for defining solutions that highlight Solidigm SSDs for data center workloads, requiring a deep understanding of current trends in storage and memory technologies across hyperscale, cloud, and IT software. As an intern, you will contribute to finding and exploring new opportunities for these cutting-edge data center SSDs.

The TL;DR

• Type: Part-time (20 hours/week during academic periods), Full-time (up to 40 hours/week during breaks) for 1 year

• Pay: $29.33–$32 hourly

• Mission: Define and explore new solutions for Solidigm’s data center SSDs to solve complex IT problems and drive infrastructure transformation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Problem-Solving: Work with large enterprise and cloud IT companies to solve complex IT problems and drive infrastructure transformation.
• Solution Definition: Define the best fit solutions opportunity for Solidigm’s SSDs and prove the value of these solutions in practice.
• Practical Application: Perform hands-on lab work, engage in direct customer interaction, create marketing collateral, and present to senior management.
• Workload Testing: Stand-up and test target workloads to ensure optimal performance.
• Architecture Development: Develop novel solution architectures, recommend new product/feature development, and prototype proof of concept designs.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, with detailed knowledge of I/O and memory/storage related software stacks, drivers, file system, and kernel performance utilities.
• Experience: Direct experience configuring and testing server and/or storage systems, along with experience running industry benchmarking tools on servers and/or storage systems.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Bonus: Deep understanding of data center SSD/HDD products, technologies, market, and trends; direct experience implementing IT data center solutions such as database, big data, analytics, software defined storage systems, or hyperconverged systems; understanding of AI data pipeline and typical customer workloads; understanding of Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Content Delivery Networks architecture, or modern data center architecture and distributed storage systems like HDFS or Ceph; experience with industry standard benchmarks like TPC* or RocksDB; competence in performance technologies such as DPDK, SPDK, or PMDK; network and kernel tuning and optimization.
