Job Description:

This is a SkillBridge Internship at Palo Verde Generating Station (PVNGS) in Tonopah, AZ. It’s designed for active service members within six months of separation from the Armed Forces. The program allows service members to participate in training and development to prepare for transition into the civilian workforce. You will be integrated into the organization and receive valuable on-the-job training, supporting Arizona’s growth and bringing reliable energy to customers across the state.

Key aspects of the role:

• Training and Development: Participate in programs specifically designed for transitioning service members.
• Integration: Become part of the Palo Verde team.
• On-the-Job Training: Gain practical experience in the energy sector.
• Support Role: Assist in providing reliable energy to Arizona customers.

Responsibilities:

• Performs simple to intermediate analysis and designs. May assist in preparing business plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations, and studies.
• Assists in research, business documentation, studies or technical reviews.
• Conducts analyses, investigations, verifications and summarizes results or findings in written reports or oral presentations.
• Utilizes internal resources to learn business/operations/functions and apply learning in completion of work assignments.
• Coordinates efforts with other disciplines, and/or departments in achieving project goals and task assignments.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Important Notes:

• Eligibility: Must be an active Service Member within six (6) months of separation.
• SkillBridge Approval: Must have applied to the SkillBridge program through the Department of Defense with approval from both the Department of Defense and the Service Member’s Chain of Command.
• Compensation: This position does not include compensation or benefits paid by APS. The Service member will continue to receive benefits from the Department of Defense.
• Location: Tonopah, AZ (Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station)
• Export Compliance: This position may require access to and/or use of information subject to control under U.S. Export Control Laws.

• Plant/Field Role: This position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site, due to the nature of work.
• Location-Based Role: This position requires employees to work at the (Location), with some flexibility. Flexibility will be determined with the hires employee and leadership, but the ultimate decision is the company’s.
• Flex Role: This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company’s. Employees will have two options to choose from:
• APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
• Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
• Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
• Fitness for Duty: Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours.
