Shift Lead | Five Guys

The Tone:
This is a leadership role at Five Guys, a restaurant brand focused on delivering high-quality food and an excellent guest experience through teamwork and consistent operational standards. Shift Leaders are pivotal to maintaining these high standards, acting as hands-on supervisors who directly set the tone for every shift and lead by active example. This position is crucial for ensuring that every guest’s experience is impressive, as leaders work side-by-side with their team members to execute all tasks effectively. The TL;DR
• Role: Lead
• Location: In-person, Restaurant location
• Pay: $20.50–$22.00 hourly +Tips +Bonus
• Mission: Owns the smooth operation of shifts, ensuring high standards of service, cleanliness, and team performance when management is not present.
• Tech Stack: POS systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Shift Leadership: Take charge of the shift and step in to run all restaurant operations when management is not on site, maintaining full oversight and operational flow.
• Hands-On Support: Actively jump into every position necessary—including cashier, grill, prep, fries, and dining room—to ensure smooth workflow and support the team directly.
• Guest Service Excellence: Consistently deliver fast, accurate service and actively work to create a great and memorable guest experience every time a customer visits the restaurant.
• Team Development & Culture: Coach, support, and motivate all crew members to perform at their highest potential, additionally helping to train new team members and build a strong, positive, and collaborative restaurant culture.
• Operational Compliance: Keep the entire restaurant environment clean, safe, and fully up to brand standards, while also managing essential shift tasks such as employee breaks, accurate cash handling, and completing closing reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Managerial experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality operations, demonstrating a foundational understanding of service industries.
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience within a restaurant, retail, or hospitality setting, with a clear preference for candidates who possess prior leadership experience.
• Skills: A team-first mindset combined with strong communication skills, the ability to make decisions and remain composed in a fast-paced setting, basic mathematical proficiency, and comfort using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Bonus: Preferred candidates will hold a food safety certification, such as ServSafe, to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.
