Shift Lead | Five Guys

The Tone:
This is a leadership role at Five Guys, a company focused on consistently delivering high-quality food and exceptional guest experiences. Shift Leads are critical hands-on leaders who establish the operational tone for every shift and work directly with their team. This position is vital for ensuring every guest leaves impressed and for fostering a positive, high-performing team environment within the restaurant.

The TL;DR
• Location: In-person
• Pay: $16 hourly
• Team: Works alongside crew members, reporting to management.
• Mission: Leads daily restaurant operations and ensures an excellent guest experience through hands-on leadership.
• Tech Stack: POS systems

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations Leadership: Leads daily restaurant operations and runs shifts when management is not on site.
• Hands-on Support: Actively performs all restaurant positions, including cashier, grill, prep, fries, and dining room.
• Guest Experience: Delivers fast, accurate service and consistently creates a great guest experience for every customer.
• Team Development: Coaches, supports, and motivates crew members, helping to train new team members and build a positive culture.
• Shift Management: Manages key shift responsibilities, including coordinating breaks, handling cash, and completing closing reports.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This is a leadership position requiring knowledge of restaurant, retail, or hospitality operations.
• Experience: 1–2 years of experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality is required, with leadership experience being preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, comfort using POS systems, the ability to make decisions under pressure, and a team-first mindset.
• Bonus: Food safety certification (such as ServSafe) is preferred.
