Job Description: Sherwin-Williams Management & Sales Internship
This is a paid, 10-12-week summer internship program designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in Sherwin-Williams’ retail stores. The program offers comprehensive insight into management, sales, and store operations, alongside opportunities for meaningful customer experiences.
The internship aims to deliver a thorough learning experience through practical business-to-business and retail exposure within a paint store environment. Interns will gain deeper understanding into a potential career in outside sales by traveling with a Sales Representative. They will also spend structured time with their management team and undertake a project addressing critical business issues, collaborating with peers and receiving support from leadership.
The program is structured to provide professional-level learning in several key business areas:
• Sales
• Marketing/Promotions
• Merchandising
• Customer Relationship Management
• Business Management
Upon successful completion of the internship, participants are highly encouraged to apply to the Management & Sales Training Program (“MTP”) to continue growing their careers with Sherwin-Williams.
Important Eligibility Note: College graduates are not eligible for this internship program. Graduates are instead encouraged to apply directly to the Management and Sales Training Program (“MTP”).
Job duties involve significant interaction with customers, which may include minors. Interns will also have access to cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise, and other items of value, with such access potentially being supervised or unsupervised. Due to these responsibilities and access, Sherwin-Williams conducts a review of criminal history to protect the business, its operations, reputation, and the safety of customers, staff, employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public. Qualified applicants with relevant records will be considered in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local fair chance laws.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without requiring sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.
• Must be enrolled in a college or university at the time the internship or co-op program takes place.
• Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. on occasion.
• Must be willing to work all scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Possession of a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.
• At least one (1) year of experience in a delivery, retail, or customer service position.
• Previous experience working in a team-oriented setting, including work experience, extracurricular activities, military service, etc.
• Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language, with a specific preference for Spanish.
• Being a rising or current Junior or Senior in college or university at the start of the internship program.
