The Tone:
This is a Senior Software Development Engineer role at Workday, located in Mason, Ohio with a hybrid work schedule. Workday is a leading AI platform that manages people, money, and agents, shaping the future of work. This role is crucial within VNDLY, a Workday company, which develops a next-generation SaaS platform for streamlining contingent workforce management. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for building and maintaining critical pay-related features that empower customers to efficiently acquire and manage talent.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Build: Develop new pay-related features for the VNDLY platform as a hands-on engineer.
• Own: Take responsibility for the design, scalability, and resilience of critical services.
• Solve: Address complex challenges related to contingent worker onboarding, management, and payment, specifically within Jobs, Worker Provisioning, Contracts, and Integrations.
• Guide: Be a key voice in architectural decisions and provide technical leadership to the team in building robust solutions.
• Mentor: Share knowledge and mentor other team members to foster growth and elevate team capabilities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior career level with a demonstrated ability to solve complex software problems and maintain a high standard for code quality.
• Experience: 7+ years of professional software development experience; 3+ years designing, building, and maintaining RESTful web services; 3+ years with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Skills: Deep proficiency in Python, experience with at least one Python web framework (e.g., Django, Flask), and strong experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, specifically React.js.
• Bonus: Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (e.g., Git); experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda); knowledge of SaaS applications, multi-tenant architectures, and DevOps/CI/CD practices; experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
