Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our core AI Platform team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, robust, and high-performance backend services that power our advanced AI models and applications. You will work on critical infrastructure components, APIs, and data pipelines that enable our AI products to deliver real-time intelligence and unparalleled value to our customers. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of microservices and RESTful APIs that support our AI platform and various AI-driven products.
• Architect and implement robust data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and serving large volumes of data for AI model training and inference.
• Collaborate closely with AI/ML engineers, data scientists, frontend developers, and product managers to translate complex requirements into scalable backend solutions.
• Optimize existing backend systems for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
• Ensure the security, availability, and scalability of backend services through rigorous testing, monitoring, and incident response.
• Participate in architectural reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions, contributing to our overall platform strategy.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• Stay abreast of emerging backend technologies, cloud services, and best practices, evaluating and integrating them where appropriate.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues efficiently.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, specifically building and scaling distributed systems.
• Expert proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language such as Python (highly preferred), Java, Go, or C#.
• Strong experience with designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Extensive experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
• Demonstrated experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and familiarity with cloud-native services (e.g., Lambda, SQS, Kinesis, EC2, S3, RDS).
• Proficiency with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and design patterns.
• Experience with message queues and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.
• Prior experience working on AI/ML platforms, MLOps, or data-intensive applications.
• Familiarity with Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and data warehousing solutions.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Experience leading small technical projects or initiatives.
• Understanding of security best practices in backend development.
