Job Description

Join our dynamic retail team in a high-energy, fast-paced environment as a Retail Merchandise Processor & Inventory Specialist. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in managing our donated goods, transforming them from raw donations into appealing merchandise ready for sale. You’ll perform a variety of essential inventory management responsibilities, ensuring our retail store is stocked with quality items that delight our customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Merchandise Evaluation & Preparation:
    • Diligently transfer and assess donated merchandise from containers, adhering to established guidelines to determine suitability for the sales floor.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of brand names, designer labels, current trends, and vintage styles to accurately value and categorize items.
    • Thoroughly evaluate items for quality, pricing potential, overall value, and salability before preparing them for display.
  • Sorting & Processing:
    • Efficiently sort apparel into designated categories: boutique, salable, and salvage, consistently meeting daily productivity quotas.
    • Prepare items by placing them on hangers, organizing them onto rolling racks, and transporting them to the sales floor, ensuring similar items are grouped for easy browsing.
    • Accurately count and record processed items on official logs and the Daily Hanger Report.
    • Properly dispose of or containerize non-sellable merchandise according to store procedures.
  • Productivity & Compliance:
    • Consistently maintain a productive work pace to meet and exceed established processing quotas.
    • Adhere strictly to all safety and security practices, promptly reporting any hazards or injuries to management.
    • Uphold a professional image by maintaining a clean, neat uniform and appearance.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support the team by assisting with the collection and initial stocking of donated merchandise.
  • Deliver outstanding service and a positive experience to Goodwill’s valuable donors and retail customers.
  • Undertake other related duties as assigned by management to ensure smooth store operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and procedures.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to interact clearly and courteously with team members and customers.
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to perform continuous physical activities including walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and occasional climbing for extended durations (up to 7 hours within an 8-hour shift).
  • Lifting Capability: Ability to frequently lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least six months of prior work experience, preferably in a retail, production, or warehouse setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a warehouse environment.
  • Experience with merchandise pricing and evaluation.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Multilingual abilities, with strong proficiency in English.
