Production Mgr Trainee 1-Farm 49170 | Smithfield Foods

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Smithfield Foods, located on Farm 49170, with relocation required for training and your first managerial assignment. What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn and become certified across all farm department areas, including Breeding/Farrowing and Nursery/Finishing operations.
• Master all hourly jobs through hands-on experience and supervision, achieving certification in each area of responsibility.
• Develop a solid understanding and implement company systems related to pig production processes, animal flow, farm health, genetics, and husbandry.
• Prepare and submit required reports documenting experiences encountered and identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
• Act as Head of Department as needed by management, providing leadership and guidance to staff after technical certification is complete.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university in Animal Science or a related Agricultural field of study, or currently enrolled college student with anticipated graduation by end of current semester.
• Experience: Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software.
• Skills: Ability to lead others; proficiency in Microsoft software; willingness and ability to relocate; ability to perform animal husbandry tasks including euthanasia, castration, vaccinations, and piglet processing; skill in operating a high-pressure washing system; ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented setting.
