Project Accountant | The Bolton Group

This Project Accountant position is critical for supporting project financial management, cost tracking, billing, and reporting. The role collaborates closely with Project Managers and operations teams, playing a key part in ensuring projects remain financially accurate and on schedule.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Oversight: Manage project budgets, job costing, and financial reporting to maintain financial accuracy.
• Billing Operations: Prepare and review client billings and invoices, ensuring timely and correct charges.
• Cost Management: Process vendor and subcontractor invoices, and accurately track project costs, commitments, and overall profitability.
• Reporting & Analysis: Perform account reconciliations and month-end close activities, and assist with forecasting, cash flow tracking, and financial analysis.
• Risk & Compliance: Maintain vendor compliance documentation, contracts, and project records, partner with Project Managers to identify financial risks and resolve issues, and prepare ad hoc reports and support audit requests.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, demonstrating core domain knowledge in accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience: 1-2+ years of dedicated experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or job-cost accounting.
• Skills: Advanced Excel proficiency, familiarity with ERP/accounting systems, strong analytical capabilities, effective organizational skills, and clear communication.
• Bonus: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
