Professional Tutor – Imaging Sciences | Northeast College of Health Sciences

The Tone:
This is a part-time role at Northeast College of Health Sciences, located in Seneca Falls, NY, with flexibility for in-person or virtual engagement. The college is dedicated to health sciences education, fostering a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. This role supports undergraduate students in Imaging Sciences by providing essential tutoring, helping them master course content and develop into independent, successful learners.

The TL;DR
• Role: Professional Tutor
• Type: Part-Time, non-exempt; flexibility depending on need and student availability (up to 20 hours/week)
• Location: Hybrid, Seneca Falls, NY (in-person or virtual)
• Pay: $21–$25 hourly
• Team: Center for Student Support; reports to Accessibility Resources and Academic Success Manager.
• Mission: Assist undergraduate Imaging Sciences students in developing into successful, independent learners through tutoring and study strategy support.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tutoring Delivery: Meet and support undergraduate Imaging Sciences students through small group, 1:1, and drop-in tutoring sessions.
• Content Reinforcement: Provide content-based learning activities to enrich, support, and review course material for clarity and understanding.
• Skill Development: Integrate effective study and learning strategies during sessions to help students develop into successful, independent learners, including note-taking, reading, goal setting, and time management.
• Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain accurate records of student contact, submit timely documentation regarding tutor content delivery and attendance, and collaborate with faculty for assignment clarification.
• Student Support: Disseminate information and refer students to other college services such as academic advising, disability services, and personal counseling, and offer mentorship to student tutors.

The Must-Haves
• Background: An Imaging Sciences graduate (Radiologic Technology or Diagnostic Medicine Sonographer preferred) who has successfully entered the Imaging Sciences profession, with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher during undergraduate studies.
• Experience: Demonstrated strong knowledge across Imaging Sciences courses.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex concepts clearly, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
• Bonus: Previous experience as a tutor, teaching assistant, or other leadership engagement during student tenure; experience with the implementation of a student-centered instructional strategy.
