Welcome Center Coordinator | Rock Valley College

The Tone:
This is a Continuous Part-time support staff position at Rock Valley College, located in Rockford, IL. Rock Valley College provides accessible higher education and comprehensive student support services, fostering academic and personal growth within its community. This role is essential for coordinating the daily operations of the Welcome Center, serving as a primary resource for students, and ensuring efficient delivery of front-line enrollment services. The coordinator plays a vital part in guiding students through the enrollment process and fostering a welcoming campus environment.

The TL;DR

• Location: In-person, Rockford, IL
• Pay: $21–$24 hourly
• Team: Reports to the Director of New Student Recruitment
• Mission: Coordinate Welcome Center operations and ensure efficient delivery of enrollment services for students.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite, Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, database entry, Web page maintenance, College’s administrative software system, CRM system, student portal.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations: Coordinate daily Welcome Center operations, including front desk services, admissions communication, and visitor experience.
• Enrollment Processing: Serve as the primary operational lead for application intake and processing through the College’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
• Student Support: Provide exceptional customer service and first-level technical support for admissions, student accounts, and enrollment-related systems.
• Team Leadership: Coordinate the Student Ambassador program, including recruitment, training, and supervision of student workers and volunteers.
• Program Coordination: Coordinate campus visit programs, individual appointments, and prospective student onboarding activities.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s Degree. Entry-Level career in a support staff capacity, focused on student services and administrative coordination.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability working with diverse students, faculty, and staff; experience with Microsoft Office Suite, PC applications, and database entry. Experience with web page maintenance and ability to learn administrative software systems.
• Skills: Strong oral and written communication, data collection and analysis, customer relationship management (CRM) system management, first-level technical troubleshooting.
• Bonus: Bachelor’s degree; experience in a community college setting; experience in admissions/recruiting, supervision, and event planning.
