Market Research & Product Development Intern – Home Products | E. Living
The Tone:
This is an internship at E. Living, located in New York City. E. Living creates and brings to market successful home products for many of North America’s leading retailers, covering categories from furniture and lighting to bath, storage, décor, and outdoor essentials. This role is designed for individuals interested in building a career in merchandising and product development. The intern will discover market gaps and transform those opportunities into desirable products that customers want to buy, supporting the entire product development lifecycle from idea to sample.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Consistent, 25–40 hours/week, 3-6 months
• Location: In-person, New York, NY
• Pay: $25 hourly
• Mission: This intern will identify market opportunities, create compelling product concepts, and support the development of home products from initial idea to final sample.
• Tech Stack: Graphic design, AI tools, mockups, presentations, Photoshop or similar software, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini
What You’ll Actually Do
• Market Research: Research retail assortments through in-store and online analysis to identify assortment gaps, emerging trends, and opportunities for new products.
• Concept Creation: Translate identified market opportunities into compelling product concepts using graphic design, AI tools, mockups, and presentations.
• Product Development Support: Support the product development process by assisting with specifications, target costs, sample reviews, and supplier communication.
• Documentation Management: Maintain organized product images, presentations, and all related development documentation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level. Strong interest in home products, retail, merchandising, or consumer trends.
• Experience: Ability to communicate ideas clearly through presentations, mockups, and simple image editing.
• Skills: Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini; organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking initiative; able to work on-site in New York City.
• Bonus: Experience with Photoshop or similar image editing software is a plus.
