Job Title: Process Engineer

About the Role:
Dennis Group is seeking enthusiastic Process Engineers to play a pivotal role in the design and construction of state-of-the-art food and beverage processing facilities. As a Process Engineer, you will be deeply involved in every aspect of a project, from initial conceptualization through to design completion, construction, and commissioning. This comprehensive role requires expertise across various disciplines, including controls, packaging, mechanical, electrical, building systems, and architecture. You will be instrumental in developing operational efficiencies for our clients’ food and beverage process plants, ensuring successful project delivery and optimal plant performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive process design bases and select appropriate unit operations.
  • Create detailed operational specifications for processing systems.
  • Collaborate and coordinate effectively with diverse project disciplines, including other engineers, designers, and architects.
  • Prepare and refine process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Conduct mass and energy balances to optimize process design.
  • Accurately size and specify process and utility equipment.
  • Manage equipment procurement processes, including bid evaluation.
  • Support project management in defining project scope, budget, and schedule for all process-related work.
  • Coordinate the schedules and work of contractors for process equipment installation.
  • Engage with clients, vendors, and suppliers to develop cost estimates and proposals.
  • Provide expert recommendations and assumptions on supply for clients.
  • Oversee the installation of process and utility equipment, ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Provide critical on-site support for construction start-up and commissioning activities.
  • Stay abreast of industry advancements by researching process engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to the professional development and talent growth within the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field (Junior or Senior standing).
  • GPA: 3.0 or above.

Skills & Experience:

  • Familiarity with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) is a strong plus.
  • A keen interest in food safety and sanitary design principles, coupled with a desire to learn about various food and beverage industry standards, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Previous process experience in the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, or other sanitary environments is a plus.
  • Must possess a motivated and results-oriented attitude.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Capable of lifting up to 15 pounds occasionally.

Travel Requirement:

  • Ability to meet travel requirements of 30-50% of the year. This involves on-site construction project coordination and management, traveling between project sites and other offices.
