Private Equity Analyst | Main Capital Partners

The Tone:
This is a full-time Private Equity Analyst role at Main Capital Partners, located in Boston, MA. Main Capital Partners is a software investor with over 20 years of experience, exclusively focused on software and SaaS businesses across Northwestern Europe and North America. The company manages approximately $14 billion in assets and has completed more than 300 software investments, operating with a team of over 100 professionals globally. This role is critical as the company expands its North American presence, requiring a professional eager to contribute to investment success and help build the platform in the US market.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Sourcing & Evaluation: Actively find, evaluate, and execute new investment opportunities, including conducting market and industry research.
• Financial Analysis: Perform comprehensive financial modeling, valuation analysis, and returns analysis for various investment targets.
• Due Diligence: Lead financial and operational due diligence processes.
• Deal Documentation: Prepare investment memos and other essential deal-related documents.
• Portfolio Support: Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), actively support M&A strategies, and drive value creation initiatives for portfolio companies.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A strong academic background in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
• Experience: 1 to 3 years of prior experience in (MM or LMM) investment banking or equivalent transaction advisory.
• Skills:
• Superior financial technical skills, including detailed analysis, modeling, budgeting, and forecasting; readiness for a modeling test.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Superb interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team while also working independently.
• Bonus:
• Currently based in the Boston area or willing to relocate to work 5 days in the office.
• An entrepreneurial spirit paired with a strong desire to build Main Capital Partners’ US presence alongside senior employees.
• A genuine interest in software investing.
