Philanthropy Specialist, Gift Operations | UT MD Anderson

The Tone:
This is a full-time remote role at UT MD Anderson, a leading institution dedicated to cancer care, research, education, and prevention. As a Philanthropy Specialist, you will play a critical role within the Gift Operations team, ensuring that all philanthropic contributions are processed accurately and efficiently. Your work directly supports the institution’s vital mission by maintaining data integrity and upholding donor intent in every transaction, contributing to meaningful fundraising efforts.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Donations: Accurately process online credit card donations, special event contributions, and provide backup support for annual fund, institutional, matching gift, and peer-to-peer activities within established timelines.
• Manage Gift Data: Capture and maintain gift data across various electronic systems, research and resolve discrepancies to uphold data integrity, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and data governance standards.
• Conduct Reconciliation & Compliance: Perform detailed reconciliation of deposits and gift transactions, research donor and gift information for inconsistencies, and ensure gift revenue allocations align with donor intent and organizational requirements.
• Provide Customer Service: Respond to donor and stakeholder inquiries professionally and in a timely manner, assess request purposes, and independently resolve concerns while maintaining a positive attitude under a high-volume workload.
• Support Operational Improvements: Partner with Gift Operations colleagues and external vendors to enhance donation processing workflows, contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives, and adapt to multiple simultaneous campaigns and projects.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in any field, representing an early career professional.
• Experience: 1+ years of clerical, office, administrative, organizational, or related support experience.
• Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, demonstrated expertise in data accuracy, problem-solving, customer service, and collaboration with detailed transactional processes.
• Bonus: Experience in fundraising/non-profit, government agency, marketing, advertising, public relations, law, or healthcare industries.
