The Tone:

The TL;DR

• Pay: $16.5–$20 hourly
• Mission: To assist pharmacists in delivering patient-centric care and operational excellence, while earning national certification as a pharmacy technician.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Patient Engagement: Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
• Prescription Processing: Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and accurately fill medications under pharmacist supervision.
• Inventory Management: Assist the Pharmacy Department with inventory control activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, storing shipments, and managing claims for discrepancies.
• Professional Development: Participate in the ASHP & Department of Labor recognized “earn while you learn” apprenticeship program to achieve and maintain PTCB certification.
• Operational Support: Handle telephone calls that do not require a pharmacist’s personal attention and process manual claims for third-party program prescription services.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Others. Foundational interest in healthcare and pharmacy, with a willingness to learn and develop skills through an apprenticeship program.
• Experience: No prior pharmacy experience is required; however, six months of experience in a retail environment is preferred.
• Skills: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English; ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekend hours; good math skills for accurate medication handling; good computer skills for operating pharmacy systems.
• Bonus: Prior work experience with Walgreens; current PTCB certification (for experienced applicants); knowledge of store inventory control.
