The Tone:
This is an in-person internship at Walgreens, a leading community health and retail pharmacy. The role is designed for future pharmacists to gain invaluable hands-on experience in patient care and pharmacy operations. Interns work directly with pharmacists and team members, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience, thereby developing the foundational skills crucial for their professional journey.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Customer Engagement: Greet and assist customers and patients, offering help with products and services, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive and distinctive customer experience.
• Prescription Processing: Perform duties under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, including entering, third-party processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions in strict accordance with Walgreens’ standard operating procedures, state, and federal regulations.
• Patient Care Services: Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare providers to deliver patient care services permitted within the state scope of practice for pharmacy interns, such as patient counseling, blood pressure checks, and medication therapy management.
• Operational Support: Support the Pharmacy Department’s daily operations by managing inventory activities like ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly department.
• Compliance and Learning: Adhere strictly to the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct and Good Faith Dispensing policy, complete all required training, and continuously maintain knowledge of the latest developments in healthcare and pharmacy.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy program.
• Experience: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Skills: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. Ability to adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethical codes of conduct.
