Job Description:
• Job Title: Pharmacy Intern
• Work Location: Pittsburgh, PA
• Job Classification: Non-Exempt
• Job Status: Casual
• Reports To: Director, RxARECARE
• Purpose:
The Pharmacy Intern will perform internship duties under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist (preceptor), adhering to federal and state laws, PANTHERx Specialty Pharmacy policy, and the Doctor of Pharmacy requirements of their academic institution.
• Responsibilities:
• Assisting with the acceptance and processing of prescription orders.
• Providing patient counseling, including reviewing medication profiles and conducting drug utilization reviews (DUR).
• Delivering product or service information to patients, healthcare providers, and caregivers.
• Contacting patients, caregivers, or healthcare providers to assess their pharmaceutical and ancillary supply needs.
• Performing calculations for dosage determinations necessary for dispensing medications.
• Receiving and addressing routine product or service problems, referring complex issues to the appropriate department.
• Picking, packing, and shipping orders for patient delivery.
• Assisting pharmacist(s) with special projects as assigned.
• Required Qualifications:
• Possession of a Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy Intern Certificate Certification.
• Good standing in an accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Minimum course equivalency of the first professional year of college of pharmacy.
• Maximum course equivalency of the second professional year of college of pharmacy.
• Work Environment:
The role is based in a professional fulfillment pharmacy and routinely involves the use of standard pharmacy equipment.
• Physical Demands:
The employee is regularly required to stand for long periods. Frequent activities include using hands and fingers for handling or feeling, and reaching with hands and arms. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
