What You’ll Actually Do
• Provide Tailored Instruction: Deliver personalized, one-on-one online tutoring to students, adapting instruction to meet their individual learning styles and needs to help them achieve their NMLS SAFE Mortgage Loan Originator examination goals.
• Master NMLS Content Delivery: Explain complex NMLS SAFE Mortgage Loan Originator examination content, including federal mortgage-related laws, general mortgage knowledge, mortgage loan origination activities, ethics, and uniform state content, using multiple approaches.
• Guide Strategic Problem-Solving: Teach strategic test-taking and problem-solving skills for the NMLS examination, guiding students through federal lending regulation application, loan comparison analysis, ethical scenario evaluation, and specific disclosure timeline requirements like TRID.
• Utilize Learning Technology: Conduct remote tutoring sessions on the purpose-built Live Learning Platform, leveraging the AI-powered Tutor Copilot for real-time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement features to optimize teaching time.
• Manage Scheduling and Invoicing: Set your own flexible schedule and availability for tutoring sessions, accepting both instant and scheduled requests, and invoice for completed sessions while Varsity Tutors handles all payment logistics.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge and advanced test mastery of the NMLS SAFE Mortgage Loan Originator examination content, including federal mortgage-related laws, general mortgage knowledge, mortgage loan origination activities, ethics, and uniform state content. This includes the ability to explain TILA-RESPA integrated disclosures, ECOA requirements, and various loan program features.
• Experience: Demonstrated skill in teaching the application of federal lending regulations, conducting loan comparison analyses, and evaluating ethical scenarios pertinent to the NMLS examination. Required experience includes guiding students through TRID disclosure timeline requirements, HMDA reporting obligations, and FHA/VA loan program distinctions, while also connecting regulatory requirements to practical mortgage origination workflows. Familiarity with the NMLS examination content outline and common student challenges, such as memorizing federal law or distinguishing loan features, is essential.
• Skills: Exceptional teaching methods, with the ability to identify concepts students struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to individual learning needs and styles. Strong communication skills are essential, coupled with a friendly and engaging teaching approach.
