The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Galveston County, TX, US
• Mission: This person will own the support of daily newscast production, ensuring localized news coverage reflects community needs and interests while upholding editorial standards.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Assist in planning and producing daily newscasts, including selecting stories and organizing rundowns.
• Write clear and concise scripts for broadcast content.
• Coordinate effectively with reporters, anchors, and technical staff to ensure smooth broadcast operations.
• Monitor breaking news developments and update content promptly as stories evolve.
• Fact-check information thoroughly and prepare all necessary visual and audio elements for broadcast.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student, enrolled in or having completed a relevant program in journalism, communications, media, or a related field.
• Experience: Foundational understanding of news production and broadcast television principles.
• Skills: News Writing and general Writing skills; strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ethical judgment in news content; effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Bonus: Familiarity with newsroom software, video editing tools, or studio operations.
