Corporate Vice President, National Accounts Team Lead – West | New York Life Insurance Company

• Team: Leads Account Executives within the West Region, reports to the Region Lead.
• Mission: Lead, develop, and drive the performance of Account Executives, acting as a growth catalyst and executive sponsor to ensure sustained regional growth and consistent business results.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Account Executive Leadership: Lead, coach, and manage Account Executives within the West Region to achieve individual and regional growth, retention, and activity goals, establishing clear performance expectations and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on client outcomes. You will conduct regular pipeline reviews, book strategy discussions, and performance assessments, identifying and addressing performance gaps in partnership with the Region Lead.
• Strategic Partnership: Serve as a close strategic partner to the Region Lead, contributing to the development of priorities, growth strategies, and execution plans for the region. This involves translating regional and national strategies into clear, actionable expectations for Account Executives and providing ongoing insights to the Region Lead on performance trends, risks, talent readiness, and capacity, while aligning on resource allocation and client prioritization.
• Growth & Re-Enrollment Leadership: Drive disciplined execution of regional growth initiatives, including cross-sell, upsell, and new lines of business across the portfolio. You will ensure strong planning and execution for re-enrollment campaigns, partnering with Account Executives to develop and execute book growth strategies and identifying best practices to improve retention and expansion outcomes.
• Executive Client Sponsorship: Serve as an executive sponsor for select strategic clients, supporting their retention, growth, and long-term partnership with New York Life. This includes participating in senior-level client, broker, and consultant engagements as needed, supporting Account Executives in complex negotiations and strategic discussions, and leading the coordination and resolution of high-impact client issues.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Underwriting to support pricing strategy, renewal positioning, and complex negotiations, providing field and client insight to achieve balanced pricing and competitive outcomes. You will also work effectively across Sales, Service, Claims, and other internal partners to drive operational outcomes, ensuring the adoption of essential tools and processes and proactively identifying and removing barriers to performance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with a focus on National Accounts, group benefits, employee benefits, or a related commercial insurance environment.
• Experience: 10+ years of experience in the group benefits or commercial insurance sector, including demonstrated experience leading and developing sales or account management teams and proven ability to drive growth through others.
• Skills: Strong executive presence with experience as an executive sponsor, ability to partner with Underwriting on pricing and negotiations, and excellent cross-functional leadership, influencing, communication, judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Bonus: Advanced degree preferred and willingness to travel as needed for client, broker, and team engagement.
