This position within the Municipal Finance Student Loan Group contributes to providing analytical, research, and transactional support to investment bankers, enabling the structuring and issuance of municipal bonds for higher education institutions and state-based lending authorities. What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare Financial Materials: Gather, organize, and analyze information to create proposals, client presentations, offering statements, and marketing materials.
• Develop Financing Proposals: Prepare detailed proposals for prospective clients, outlining financing alternatives for originating, structuring, and marketing an issue, demonstrating underwriting capabilities.
• Perform Financial Modeling: Prepare financial projections and conduct modeling and related financial analyses for potential and actual capital markets transactions, including data collection and conversion.
• Structure Transactions: Assist with structuring capital markets transactions to meet preferences and requirements of clients, investors, credit rating agencies, and internal risk groups, using cash flow modeling.
• Coordinate Transaction Closing: Coordinate internal and external activities related to the pricing and settlement of public finance transactions, collaborating with management and investment bankers to secure closings.

The Must-Haves
• Background: BA/BS degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another quantitative/analytical area of study.
• Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of related professional investment banking, credit rating agency, and/or “Big 4” consulting/advisory experience.
• Skills: Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, strong knowledge of fixed income securities, FINRA Series 52, 63, and SIE licenses (required within 60 days of hire), FINRA Series 79 license (as applicable), strong work ethic, excellent interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills, ability to take initiative.
• Bonus: Graduate degrees in quantitative/analytical disciplines or professional certifications (e.g., CFA/FRM), experience in structured finance, securitization, asset-backed securities (ABS), and/or residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), experience with cash flow modeling software (e.g., DBC Student Loan, INTEX DealMaker, INTEXcalc, Bloomberg), advanced Excel skills, and experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL, VB/VBA).
