About the Program:
The Martin Marietta Production Internship is an investment in you, serving as your portal to a challenging and rewarding career. It’s our way of identifying and developing the very best people. Our internship positions offer high school, college, and trade school students the opportunity to learn our industry right where the action takes place. This will be a truly hands-on experience, allowing students to learn the industry from the ground up, working alongside some of the best in the aggregate business. It’s a great opportunity for students with minimal or no mining industry experience to gain first-hand knowledge of an active mining operation.
Location:
The position is primarily located in Dallas, TX, and will primarily support quarries and plants in the surrounding area. A monthly housing allowance is included for candidates relocating to the area.
What To Expect:
Interns will participate in an approximately 10-12 week rotational internship program. This program allows for:
- Ownership of a project from start to finish.
- Comprehensive learning of the Aggregates business.
- Development of crucial professional skills including leadership, time management, and relationship building.
- Hands-on experience in high voltage electrical, automation, and understanding material production/mining.
- Exploration of various critical areas such as safety, production, engineering, geology, quality control, sales, and administration.
Essential Functions:
As an intern, you will:
- Adhere to and enforce ethical, safety, and environmental measures.
- Operate and maintain equipment throughout the plant, including but not limited to, crushers, screens, conveyors, and heavy off-road equipment.
- Become familiar with the operations of an Aggregate Quarry/Ready Mix Plant, understanding the complete production process.
- Become familiar with the traits of high-performing managers in Martin Marietta.
- Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with the Company’s Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company’s policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct.
Qualifications And Skills:
Candidates must be currently pursuing a degree or trade certification in one of the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Electronics Engineering
- Power and Energy Engineering
- Automation
Candidates must also have:
- A valid driver’s license.
- Be over 18-years old.
- Prior related experience is preferred, but not required.
- The ability to learn technical processes.
- High-level verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Reliable day-to-day transportation.
Working Conditions:
The majority of your time will be spent outside and may require periods of work in all weather conditions – including heat, cold, wet or dry, and dusty environments. You must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dBs.
