Marketing Specialist Intern | ReanKhmer – Learn Khmer

The Tone:
This is an internship at ReanKhmer – Learn Khmer, located remotely (Global), with optional in-person diaspora events. ReanKhmer is more than just an app; it represents a movement dedicated to reconnecting the Cambodian diaspora with their cultural roots and heritage. This Marketing Specialist Intern role is crucial for elevating our online and offline presence through compelling storytelling and creative content. The chosen intern will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact by helping ReanKhmer reach more learners, taking real ownership of campaigns and creative direction from day one.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Content Production: Plan and produce diverse content including short-form video, reels, carousels, and stories for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube.
• Visual Storytelling: Develop visually engaging posts with graphics, motion graphics, and video edits that celebrate Khmer language and culture.
• Authentic Copywriting: Write genuine, diaspora-first copy designed to resonate specifically with first- and second-generation Cambodians.
• Campaign Management: Support the development and execution of campaigns aligned with product launches, community events, and cultural moments like Khmer New Year.
• Community Engagement: Assist with ReanKhmer’s offline presence at community events, providing virtual support when working remotely.
• Performance Analysis: Track and report on content performance metrics such as engagement, reach, and sign-ups, offering clear insights.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level. Candidates should possess strong written English skills, a deep understanding of cultural authenticity when speaking to the Cambodian diaspora experience without flattening it, and a self-directed, organized approach suitable for running a content calendar independently. The ability to read or speak some Khmer is a significant plus.
• Experience: Proven hands-on experience using at least one design or video editing tool, such as Canva, Figma, CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or Photoshop. Demonstrates a genuine voice on social media, with personal or work feeds that showcase craft, taste, or community-building capabilities.
• Skills: Social media content creation (video, graphics), copywriting, basic design/video editing, content calendar management, cultural communication.
• Bonus: Experience with paid social media advertising, influencer outreach strategies, or community management initiatives.
