Manager Trainee | Hertz

The Tone:
This is a full-time training program based at Hertz Local Edition (HLE) branches, which are focused on delivering flexible, local rental solutions to a wide range of customers outside of airport hubs. Hertz operates its car rental brands in approximately 9,700 corporate and franchisee locations throughout North America and globally. This Manager Trainee role is crucial for developing future leaders who will contribute to the leadership, service, and operational excellence of Hertz Local Edition, preparing them for promotion to Branch Manager within 12-18 months.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Sales & Customer Service: Support the achievement of location sales goals, deliver excellent customer experiences to contribute to high service scores, and learn to apply effective sales techniques and CRM best practices.
• Operations & Fleet Management: Gain practical, hands-on experience in critical fleet logistics and inventory control, while also assisting with comprehensive store operations and ensuring compliance with company standards.
• Vehicle and Facility Care: Assist the team with various tasks including cleaning and preparing vehicles to meet customer expectations, managing the vehicle lot efficiently, and providing direct customer service assistance as needed.
• Finance & Administration: Learn essential finance processes to support the accurate completion of rental deals, and develop an understanding of key reporting, documentation requirements, and business metrics.
• Leadership Development: Shadow and actively support management in daily operational tasks, build foundational skills in team leadership, scheduling, and performance coaching, and prepare for future leadership roles through structured training that highlights the role’s impact on the company’s financial wellbeing.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-level career path requiring a High School Diploma or equivalent and prior experience working in a professional environment.
• Experience: Must be 20 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license, and demonstrate strong computer and multitasking capabilities.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, exceptional time management, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
• Bonus: A self-motivated and adaptable individual eager to grow, with flexible scheduling availability including nights, weekends, and holidays, and the ability to maintain presentable attire.
