Manager, Global Equity Administration | OpenAI
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at OpenAI, located in San Francisco, CA. OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. The Equity Administration team creates the operational foundation for the company’s equity programs. This role is crucial for ensuring reliable equity data, resilient systems, and scalable processes globally, upholding compliance requirements, and enabling the equity strategy as the company evolves.

• Mission: Own running global equity programs with a focus on high-quality execution, scalable processes, auditable controls, and reliable equity systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Administration: Execute end-to-end employee equity administration across key lifecycle events, including new grants, vesting/RSU releases, and option exercises.
• Operations: Run recurring operational cycles by managing timelines, checklists, stakeholder inputs, and issue resolution.
• Reporting: Produce audit-ready equity reporting and build automated reports, dashboards, and reconciliations to reduce manual effort and improve speed and accuracy.
• Systems: Support equity system operations, including troubleshooting, configuration updates, permissions, report builds, and workflow maintenance.
• Compliance: Partner with Internal Controls to keep process documentation, narratives, and flowcharts current, ensuring controls are followed consistently.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Manager level, with core domain knowledge in global equity administration.
• Experience: 4+ years of progressive equity administration experience in a high-growth environment, with strong working knowledge of equity administration platforms (Shareworks preferred or comparable).
• Skills: Strong analytical skills, including advanced Excel and comfort with reporting/analytics tools; high ownership and strong prioritization for managing multiple workstreams and deadlines; clear communication for effective partnership across teams; and high integrity and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
