2027 Leadership Fellow Program | The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, which builds, operates, and maintains critical transportation and trade infrastructure assets across the region. The Leadership Fellow Program is a two-year rotational initiative designed to prepare future leaders by providing a broad understanding of the agency’s structure, goals, and strategic direction. Fellows actively contribute to departmental initiatives and engage in continuous learning, making them vital to the organization’s long-term success.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Management: Support or lead short-term and long-term projects within each rotation, from inception to implementation.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various teams to develop solutions, deliver outcomes, and track progress on initiatives.
• Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support and inform strategic initiatives across departments.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
• Operational Improvement: Identify operational or strategic challenges and contribute creative ideas for improvement across different business functions.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Students receiving a graduate degree between December 2026 and June 2027, with a passion for public service.
• Experience: One year of work experience (including internships) in public service, transportation, government, or a related area.
• Skills: Problem-solving, analytical and quantitative skills, interpersonal skills, strong written/oral communication, strong customer service.
• Bonus: Graduate degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Urban/City/Regional Planning, Transportation, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Sustainability, Communications, Political Science, Data Science, Operations, or a related field; political acumen; interest in public transportation.
