• Team: Leads business and peer teams within the finance department, providing direction and reviewing work, and may act in a supervisory capacity when the manager is unavailable.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Guidance: Act as a subject matter expert and consultant, providing guidance on technical, functional, and strategic financial business management issues, while building financial acumen across supported customer groups.
• Performance Management: Drive the achievement of financial performance targets by delivering comprehensive financial, accounting, and business management analytical insights to executives and senior leaders, including budgeting, reporting, and projection activities.
• Team Leadership: Direct work plans and ensure effective project completion among team members through leadership and influence, while also ensuring peers receive appropriate training for their tasks.
• Initiative Leadership: Lead diverse special projects, strategic initiatives, and in-depth financial studies to identify and implement improvements in business outcomes.
• Process Integrity: Establish proper business and financial processes to ensure strict adherence to internal controls, which includes reviewing and approving accounting journal entries such as accruals and corrections.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or another related field, combined with comprehensive knowledge of accounting and finance principles, practices, and procedures.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years (8+ years desired) of increasingly diverse or complex experience in a related financial field, in addition to the required degree.
• Skills: Proficiency in financial applications like PeopleSoft FMIS and Power Plant, experience with query tools such as Business Objects, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Bonus: A Master’s degree in Accounting or an MBA, or certifications such as CPA, CIA, CFA, or CMA are strongly encouraged.
