The Tone:
This is a co-op position at NV5, located in Philadelphia, PA. NV5’s Philadelphia office is actively building a talented team of landscape architects, urban designers, and planners who are passionate about improving the quality of life for communities through thoughtful design. This co-op role offers valuable hands-on experience, providing support to the landscape architectural team in delivering a diverse portfolio of public realm projects. These initiatives include significant regional work like the Delaware River Trail and MLK Trail, green stormwater infrastructure projects with the Philadelphia Water Department, public playgrounds and recreation centers for Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, a waterfront park project, and various streetscape, park, and plaza developments across the surrounding region. Candidates should possess a strong interest and enthusiasm for design within the public realm.

• Team: Landscape architectural team, supervised by a Principal Landscape Architect.
• Mission: This person assists the landscape architectural team with a variety of tasks across key project phases, from conceptual design to construction documentation, focusing on public realm improvements, regional trails, green stormwater infrastructure, and community recreation spaces.
• Tech Stack: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, SketchUp, Lumion, ArcGIS

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop Visualizations: Assist in creating detailed plan and perspective renderings, along with other illustrative graphics for project presentations.
• Conduct Site Analysis: Participate in site visits and contribute to comprehensive site analysis activities to inform design decisions.
• Support Conceptual Design: Aid in generating initial design ideas and developing conceptual layouts for public spaces, parks, and urban environments.
• Advance Design Development: Contribute to the refinement and detailed progression of designs through various project stages, ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Prepare Documentation: Help with the creation and organization of essential construction documentation, supporting project implementation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Landscape Architecture program.
• Experience: Previous experience in a design office is recommended, but not strictly required for this co-op position.
• Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, and/or SketchUp; demonstrated ability to create compelling photo perspectives and illustrative graphics; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience with Lumion or ArcGIS software.
