Junior Property Accountant | LHH

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at LHH, working with a Real Estate Development & Investment firm located in Midtown, Manhattan. This position is open due to company growth, and the team is ready to welcome, train, and mentor a new junior professional in a supportive environment. The firm is seeking an individual with a foundational understanding of real estate accounting to contribute to their financial operations.

• Mission: This individual will ensure the accuracy and compliance of property financial statements and transactions while contributing to the overall financial health of assigned properties.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Statement Preparation: Assist in preparing monthly financial statements for assigned properties and support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Cash Management & Reconciliation: Record and reconcile daily cash receipts, deposits, and disbursements, and perform monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations.
• Journal Entry & Adjustment Processing: Prepare and process journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments with precision.
• Transaction Review & Discrepancy Resolution: Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for accuracy, analyze variances, and research accounting discrepancies.
• Operational Accounting Support: Assist with tenant billing, rent collections, lease administration accounting, annual budgets, forecasts, and audit preparations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Experience: At least 1 year of accounting experience specifically within the real estate or property management industry.
• Skills: Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis; strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail and accuracy; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
