Associate I Corporate Finance (Investment Banking) | Citizens

The Tone:
This is a full-time, in-person role at Citizens, supporting their Corporate Finance team. Citizens is seeking a junior Corporate Finance Associate to join a rapidly growing investment banking platform, which holds market-leading positions in middle-market corporate and sponsor-backed transactions, complemented by strong public equity research. This position offers an excellent opportunity to engage in client advisory services, including the origination and execution of M&A, leveraged finance, and ECM transactions across the Transportation & Logistics, Industrial Distribution, and Waste sectors. The role is critical for supporting senior professionals and for driving strategic and capital markets advice, while also involving transaction execution from origination through closing.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Advisory: Assist in the origination and execution of M&A, leveraged finance, and ECM transactions, providing strategic and capital markets advice to clients.
• Financial Modeling & Analysis: Perform extensive financial statement modeling for various transaction scenarios and analyze output to present conclusions for discussion.
• Marketing Material Preparation: Develop comprehensive marketing documentation including pitch materials, board and management presentations, memorandums, and roadshow presentations.
• Transaction Execution & Due Diligence: Manage transaction screening, credit/underwriting approval processes, participate in accounting, business, and legal due diligence, and work with legal counsel on documentation.
• Team Leadership: Supervise and develop analyst-level bankers, providing guidance and support throughout the transaction execution process.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record from a leading university, with all concentrations considered given relevant industry experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of direct experience in Investment Banking, M&A, Corporate Finance, Leveraged Finance, or Capital Markets, demonstrating proven client interaction.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with financial services software including S&P CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, FactSet, and Thomson One; and FINRA Series 79 (or 7) and Series 63 licenses or willingness to obtain them promptly.
• Bonus: An MBA is a strong plus, though not required, and attendance in a formal investment or corporate banking training program is preferred.
