Intern | Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The Tone:
This is an internship at Fellowship of Christian Athletes, available in various locations. Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a ministry-focused organization dedicated to introducing student athletes to diverse aspects of Christian ministry while guiding them in discerning their personal calling and potential career paths. This position is a collegiate volunteer role, designed as a learning and developmental experience for a summer or semester term. It is critical to the FCA mission, playing a vital role in our ministry by equipping future leaders. While interns are not employees and do not receive hourly compensation, a nominal stipend for living-related expenses may be provided. The primary goal of each internship is to deeply develop the intern’s understanding of their individual calling to ministry through targeted training and practical experience within the FCA framework.

What You’ll Actually Do
Spiritual Adherence: Agree with, understand, and consistently abide by all tenets of FCA’s Christian Community Statement, ensuring that all actions, decisions, and ministry efforts are fully aligned with the organization’s foundational Christian beliefs and mission.
Personal Devotion: Establish and diligently follow a consistent spiritual rhythm, incorporating daily prayer and in-depth Bible study, to actively seek and clearly understand the Lord’s will specifically for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and its ongoing ministry.
Leadership & Equipping: Actively lead, skillfully conduct, and prayerfully provide spiritual leadership to a diverse group including staff, fellow volunteers, coaches, and athletes. This is achieved through guiding prayer, facilitating Bible studies, engaging in worship, and consistently living by example, all with the purpose of equipping others to effectively serve within their communities.
Community Engagement: Forge meaningful connections with and actively participate in a local church community. This involvement includes consistent worship attendance and weekly engagement, fostering personal spiritual growth, accountability, and a sense of belonging within the broader body of Christ.
Biblical Conduct: Consistently conduct yourself in all personal and ministry interactions in a manner that explicitly affirms biblical standards of conduct. This is to be in full accordance with FCA’s specific Christian beliefs as outlined and detailed within the FCA’s Christian Community Statement at all times, reflecting a surrendered heart to serving God.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Collegiate Student, specifically student athletes who are exploring ministry and career paths.
• Experience: A strong desire to engage in and benefit from a learning and developmental ministry experience, typically spanning a summer or a semester term. This role is designed to provide, rather than require, prior professional experience in ministry.
• Skills: Demonstrated commitment to a personal spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study; the capacity to provide spiritual leadership through example, prayer, Bible study, and worship; active participation and connection to a local church; and consistent adherence to biblical standards of conduct in line with FCA’s Christian beliefs.
