Accounting Internship- Spring 2028 | Wipfli

The Tone:
This is an Accounting Internship at Wipfli, requiring an in-person work arrangement across various Wipfli offices or client sites, or at client locations depending on industry alignment. Wipfli is a professional services organization, comprising Wipfli LLP and Wipfli Advisory LLC, dedicated to providing attest, tax, and business consulting services. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and develop professional skills, supporting the firm’s mission of creating exceptional impact and extraordinary results for its clients. Interns are integral to the firm’s operations, gaining valuable experience to become trusted business advisors and find a professional home.

The TL;DR

• Mission: Utilize educational knowledge and experience to perform accounting-related responsibilities and gain foundational skills to become a trusted business advisor.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Client Support and Communication: Respond to client and firm associate requests in a timely, accurate, and professional manner, including responding to inquiries and gathering necessary information for the completion of required documents.
• Core Accounting Responsibilities: Prepare individual, business, or fiduciary tax returns and projections in accordance with firm and professional standards, or perform audit, review, and compliance testing procedures as directed by engagement leaders.
• Data Analysis and Insights: Utilize data analysis skills to discover useful information and patterns, providing support in formulating recommendations for clients and internal processes.
• Process Optimization: Proactively identify and suggest improvement opportunities in existing processes and workflows to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
• Financial and Tax Deliverables: Prepare (or review client prepared) financial statements, footnotes, management reports, and other engagement outputs, or research tax-related issues and perform tax return interviews as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Experience: Completion of a corporate or individual taxation class is required; a college GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred. Must be working towards eligibility to sit for the CPA exam upon graduation.
• Skills: Ability to think independently and make sound decisions, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
• Bonus: Preferred coursework in Data Analytics or Big Data.
