The Tone:
This is an internship at Springs Rescue Mission, located in Colorado Springs, CO. Springs Rescue Mission is dedicated to restoring lives through the love of Christ, providing transformative service to individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, addiction, and other life challenges. This role is a vital opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain meaningful professional experience and develop valuable career skills, directly contributing to a ministry that helps individuals journey toward stability, restoration, and long-term independence. Interns are integral to our team, serving with purpose and embodying our mission to change lives.

• Mission: This person helps restore lives by supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, addiction, and other life challenges, guiding them toward stability, restoration, and long-term independence within a Christian ministry framework.

What You’ll Actually Do
Supervised Learning: Engage in structured educational experiences that integrate professional education, Christian service, and supervised field learning aligned with academic and professional competencies.
Guest Services: Observe, assist, and directly participate in providing guest and tenant services, working under supervision to support individuals facing various life challenges.
Client Support: Provide essential life skills support, resource navigation, and basic case management activities to guests and tenants as assigned, contributing to their journey toward stability.
Program Assistance: Assist with the facilitation of groups, classes, and community activities, as well as pantry operations and special events when appropriate, supporting various ministry programs.
Administrative Tasks: Maintain accurate documentation, complete assigned administrative tasks, attend required supervision sessions, meetings, and trainings, and review internal communications to ensure smooth operations.

The Must-Haves
Background: Currently enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program in Social Work, Behavioral Health, Human Services, or another related field, as approved by Springs Rescue Mission. Candidates must also maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and affirm SRM’s Statement of Faith and Core Values, considering every position an expression of ministry.
Experience: Practical experience gained through supervised field learning within a ministry setting, applying classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios while supporting individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction. A commitment to an unpaid educational internship requiring a minimum of two academic semesters and at least 12 hours per week is essential.
Skills: Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, humility, and a strong commitment to ethical practice. Possess effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, and basic computer skills. Exhibit a willingness to learn through supervision, reflective practice, and constructive feedback, alongside the ability to work respectfully with vulnerable individuals.
