IDB. Accounting and Financial Reporting Intern | Inter-American Development Bank
The Tone:
This is a paid internship at Inter-American Development Bank, located in Washington, D.C. The IDB Group is a multilateral development bank that provides flexible financing solutions to its member countries, aiming to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean through economic and social development. This role supports the Bank’s adherence to authoritative accounting standards by assisting in financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit preparation, contributing to transparent and accountable operations.
The TL;DR

• Mission: Ensure the Bank’s main funds comply with US accounting standards by preparing financial statements, reconciliations, and audit support documentation.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Financial Statements: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for the IDB’s main funds, ensuring compliance with US accounting standards.
• Account Reconciliations: Prepare reconciliations of cash, interfund, and administrative accounts.
• Audit Support: Prepare schedules, research documentation, and other audit support tasks as needed.
• Accounting Analyses: Conduct accounting analyses and ad hoc reports, including research under US GAAP.
• Supervisor Support: Support the internship supervisor with additional activities as agreed.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Active graduate student in Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited university, with a graduation date after the internship period.
• Experience: First-time participant in an IDB Group Internship Program, not a former staff member or contractor, with at least 50% of graduate coursework completed.
• Skills: Knowledge of financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP, strong analytical skills, ability to write and present concise analytical papers, and proficiency in Microsoft suite.
• Bonus: Working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese, and experience using SAP.
